How much are your peers earning? How much should you quote? Do you still have a student loan to repay?
The 2021 Graduate Employment Survey (GES) was released in February 2022. This study conducted by NUS, NTU, SMU, and SUSS shows exciting developments in the workforce.
Eleven thousand two hundred recent grads with full-time degrees from these four universities participated in the GES research. You can now check the current employment status and earnings across different courses.
Here’s one of the best news in the study:
84% of new graduates found full-time positions in 2021, compared to 69.8% in 2020. That’s a massive 14.2% increase.
Conversely, the gross monthly income for these graduates increased by only $100 to $3,800 in 2021.
Read the salary guide below to determine how much your peers are earning. That way, you’ll have an excellent starting point in your negotiations.
TL;DR: Singapore Fresh Graduate Salary Guide In 2022
In 2021, employment rates increased (almost) across all specialities. The two notable exceptions are:
– Health Sciences decreased to 95.7% in 2021, compared to 97.4% in 2020.
– Humanities and Social Sciences have dropped to 91.2% from 92.1% in 2020.
The largest employment rate was for fresh graduates of Information and Digital Technologies, from 94.8% in 2020 to 97.8% in 2021. Not much surprise there, with technology being a huge part of our daily lives.
If you’re looking just at the full-time permanent employment rate, Sciences have the most significant differences:
– 5% in 2019
4% in 2020
– 8% in 2021
On the other hand, Sciences see just the average $100 income increase from $3,500 in 2019 and 2020 to $3,600 in 2021.
Graduates from Information and Digital Technologies saw the largest income increase, from $4,760/ month to $5,000/month. Also, they’re the highest-earning group across all courses.
Arts, Design and Media grads have the lowest salaries of just $3,500/month. However, they saw a significant increase from $3,300 in 2020 – almost double the average.
At the other end of the spectrum:
– Engineering graduates remained a $3,900 salary in 2021, the same as in 2020.
– Humanities and Social Sciences grads of 2021 saw a marginal $50 increase in their salaries to $3,500 in 2021.
