The journey of your pregnancy should be filled with joy, as it is a unique experience for every mother and her child. There are documented studies which highlight the impact of cortisol, the stress hormone, on both the mother and the fetus development. That’s why your pregnancy should be as carefree as possible.
This can be achieved through lots of rest, mild exercise, support from your friends and family, as well as high-quality prenatal medical care. Unfortunately, the costs for pre-natal check-ups and examinations during pregnancy are sky-rocketing and not many people can afford those.
For the first trimester of pregnancy, you will have to do a series of blood tests, which include the triple serum tests and the screening panel. Each test costs between $200 and $400, while gynecologist visits will cost between $800 and $1,500. For the second and third trimesters, you will also have to pay about $150 for each of your two to four ultrasounds. If you also want Harmony testing, your expenses are upped with at least $1,000.
Without taking into account your prenatal vitamins and childbirth classes, your pre-natal care costs about $4,600. That aside, there will be costs for normal deliveries, caesarean sections or C-sections with complications. The numbers begin from $900 to $17,250.
At Loan Street Singapore we believe that the birth of a new child should be a reason for celebration within a family and not one for financial concern.
However, the expenses you will have to consider are going above many people’s budgets and savings. If your family is not financially prepared, pregnancy and having a baby will not be a smooth journey.
Mr Jack and Mrs Elaine Wu were delighted when the doctor informed them of the good news! They’ve been together for years and have been looking forward to building a family together. However, despite setting aside savings and emergency funds for the pre-natal examinations, check-ups and ultrasounds, Mr and Mrs Wu soon found themselves short of cash. This was partially contributed by additional medical fees from their grandmother’s accidental fall. A small surgery was required but thankfully, all is well!
Through a friend’s recommendation, Jack wrote into Loan Street and explained his circumstances. We reached out to them immediately and starting crafting financial plans that would help them in their tricky situation.
At Loan Street Singapore, we helped Jack and Elaine with a loan that brought them peace of mind. All the costs for the pre-natal check-ups and examinations were catered for and Elaine could focus on her pregnancy without worries.
