1. Start your day with clear objectives

The commute to and from work offers a great opportunity to increase your productivity. 7. Take breaks

Your environment goes a long way to increase your level of happiness at work. This in turn will help to increase your productivity. You can make your environment a happier one by outfitting your space with elements that are pleasing to your eyes. These can be in the form of plants, photos, inspirational quotes, word art or candles. Put up anything that will bring a smile to your face, without burning a hole in your pockets. Of course, this should be done within the limits of your workplace.

 

9. Minimize interruptions

Do what you can to minimize interruptions when you’re working. Even brief interruptions can kill productivity in an instant. If you have a private office, you can set hours within which you work with the door closed. Turn off notifications for emails, social media and texts for a set period to boost productivity. Allocate a time within which you will check your messages.

Do you have a colleague that likes to pop over at your desk to chat? Let them know that you need some time to complete your task and would be happy to chat on your break.

 

10. Be proactive

Even with the best laid plans can be ruined in an instant. You may receive a phone call or email that ends up dictating how you spend your day. This may mean that you won’t get around to doing what was one your list for the day.

It is important to be proactive in these situations. Set a time aside to checking and answering emails and other correspondence. You should however, be careful not to let them determine how your day will be spent. If a task is urgent and time sensitive, you may have to move some things around to get it done. However, try as much as possible to stick to your plan for the day.
